What is a Widget?
The Free Online Dictionary describes a widget as - a do hickey that does things on the internet. or in their high falutin' words " a combination of a graphic symbol and some program code to perform a specific function. E.g. a scroll-bar or button. Windowing systems usually provide widget libraries containing commonly used widgets drawn in a certain style and with consistent behaviour." These little bits of code are like a magician's bag of tricks. Widgets can be used to enhance the use of the internet for people or to dupe even the saviest of websurfers. The purpose of this blog is to pull the curtain aside, and let you take a peek at some of the inner workings of widgets.
